Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors – Refresher Course
QNUK Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry – Refresher Course (RQF)
2 DAY COURSE
Who is this for?
The Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) (RQF) is intended for learners who already hold an SIA Door Supervisor license and are required to complete the ‘Refresher’ training prior to re-licencing effective from 1st October 2024. This course consists of 2 Units taught over a 2 day period, a breakdown of each unit is summarised below.
Purpose of the Refresher qualificationsThe SIA has committed to ensuring that all licence holders have completed relevant Continual Professional Development (CPD) each time they apply for a renewal of their SIA licence. Some operatives are excellent, however many will not complete any CPD unless it is mandatory, the implementation of the new Refresher qualifications provides a mechanism of enforcement for this requirement.
- Secondly, having the requirement for a Refresher qualification to be completed every 3 years enables the SIA to ensure that all operatives maintain their First Aid qualification currency, which has always been a licensing requirement. Still, many operatives are failing to keep their currency and allowing them to lapse.
- Thirdly, introducing a requirement for training every 3 years allows the ability to embed any new or urgently required sector-specific skills.
- Finally, enables the development of entry-level skills to a higher level of proficiency, specifically safety-critical items such as Physical Intervention and Searching.

Unit 1 Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
This unit is aligned to provide refreshment of safety-critical knowledge and skills required of Door supervisors within the private security industry. It is recognised and understood that similar knowledge and skills will have already been achieved by learners during their initial licence-linked training, therefore emphasis is placed on developing proficiency and ensuring currency within the sector.
Unit 2 Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
This unit covers both the knowledge and the practical skills required to use physical intervention when working in the private security industry. It provides an introduction to best practices including restrictive and non-restrictive interventions, the implications of their use, the hazards of using physical interventions and how to reduce the risk of harm being caused, and the actions that must be taken after an incident. This unit also provides an opportunity to develop non-aggressive physical intervention skills to protect yourself and others and non-restrictive and restrictive skills that you can employ when standing, holding or escorting individuals.
